CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ Exam Retirement Dates


A+


CompTIA A+ exam codes: Core 1 220-1201 (V15) and Core 2 220-1202 (V15).

Exam retirement date: approximately 3 years from its release date (the 220-1201/220-1202 version of the A+ exam has been available for test takers since March 25, 2025).

CompTIA A+ exam codes: Core 1 220-1101 (V14) and Core 2 220-1102 (V14).

Exam retirement dates: September 25, 2025, for English, December 19, 2025, for all other languages.

The A+ 220-1100 exam series was fully retired on December 19, 2025, and is no longer available for test takers.


Note on the A+ Series & Exam Transition: CompTIA typically offers a six-month transition period when a new A+ series launches, during which both versions are active. Candidates must pass two exams from the same series (e.g., both 1200 series) to become certified; mixing exams from different series is not permitted. Crucially, both exams must be passed before the retirement date of the chosen series, or the candidate must start over with the latest version.



Network+


CompTIA Network+ exam code: N10-009 (V9).

Exam retirement date: approximately 3 years from its release date (the N10-009 version of the Network+ exam has been available for test takers since June 20, 2024).

Note on the Exam Transition Period: When a new version of the Network+ exam is released, CompTIA usually provides a six-month window where both the old and new versions are available for test takers.


Security+


CompTIA Security+ exam code: SY0-701 (V7).

Exam retirement date: approximately 3 years from its release date (the SY0-701 version of the Security+ exam has been available for test takers since November 7, 2023).
